China goes green: “The New Sputnik”

A couple of interesting points in this Friedman column:

China going green is the new gauntlet thrown down to the US, lumbering along behind, trapped in its own hubristic worldview, he argues.

And a note of hope, given that a US Congress in the pocket of special interests and so blocking serious progress on the environment has become probably the single biggest enemy to the planet: one of those special interests, the US Chamber of Commerce, has been deserted by the huge utility, Pacific Gas and Electric, which resigned its membership exasperated by the Chamber’s incessant blocking of progress on climate change.
